SMAC will be working with Pac/West Lobby Group to help achieve the goals of the Coalition.

SMAC strives to be a clearinghouse of information and connection between elected officials and staff who can share their perspectives, concerns, and solutions for regulations and/or policies that hamper local efforts. Every city does not have to agree with every position on certain policy matters and positions that SMAC may adopt, but SMAC is a place where cities can break through barriers to see where they may ally with others experiencing the same concerns. The ability to gather and collaborate enhances our collective ability to mobilize toward more favorable outcomes that make our communities better.

Play Offense

Create bills to help all Oregon communities be more efficient & effective with the limited resources cities possess.

Strategize

Working with other cities, the partners will formulate policies and advocacy positions that get results for rural Oregon. The partners also plan to promote legislation in future State Legislative sessions. Rural focus oriented. Activating our elected officials is a top priority.

Clearinghouse

By developing relationships with State Representatives and Senators, local, small town Councils will be able to tell the stories about their struggles and successes. They will be able to share what is working for their communities and what is not. Creating a website that allows members to access position papers, template letters, and contacts from other cities who share the same concerns.
